This is the underpass by day- a little less scary!
You can just see the pebble dash on the side of the bridge, that helps protect it from the cold weather and the harsh winds. The path running underneath is for pedestrians, the road part is for cyclists, which seems normal now but was quite ahead of it's time for the 1960s. You can see into the distance, almost to the heart of the town, this was intended to give people a central point to look towards. The green mounds and grass help balance the concrete.
